EMOTIONAL CREATURE By Eve Ensler Kansas City premiere! Performed by an ensemble of young women, EMOTIONAL CREATURE is made up of monologues, scenes, songs and dance about and for girls around the globe. A call, a reckoning, an education, an act of empowerment for girls, and an illumination for parents and for us all. A potent call to girls to honor their emotions and to people of all ages to uphold human rights at every level, from the boardroom to the bedroom.
The Caribbean-influenced musical folktale tells the story of Ti Moune, a peasant girl who falls in love with the well-born Daniel and is aided by the gods and goddesses of earth, water and love in her quest to be with him. A rousing song-and-dance celebration of the power of love, storytelling and the strength of the human spirit. Book and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and music by Stephen Flaherty.
